OH. SWEET. CHRIST...

I must admit, at first I was thinking, "Ah crap... this is gonna be one of those weird soundscape "songs,"" but by 1:00...I got goosebumps :D

This is definitely something new. It starts out all quiet then goes into this fuckin' EPIC pad orchestra at 1:00. At around 2:05, it starts to get more of a playful feeling which I really enjoyed. And at 4:10, you go into this jazzy beat which some beautiful chords and chimes in there along with the guitar add around 4:44 (Now THAT was absolutely heavenly). Then it all comes to a close with the pads. And it loops...that's pretty sick.

Now my question is...HOW THE HELL DID YOU MANAGE TO DO ALL OF THAT IN ONE SONG?! I mean...come on. You went through 4 entirely different moods while mixing like a million different genres at the same time. True musical talent.

I can honestly say that I can't find anything wrong with this song. I would have to sit down and spend hours to find a flaw (if there are any).

So all in all, absolutely amazing job! I'm fav'ing this for sure :D Hopefully when I get out of this damn writer's block, I can make some epic creations like this. And as always, keep up the good work!

mjattie responds:

hey uncle,

first of all, THANKS YOU VERY VERY MUCH xd I first began with making a soundscape. Then I thought... Hmmm let's put some spacey cords in it... Then I was like, wow, this could be a trance song, but then I thought, nahh that's too cliche. Let's make something totally different, so I made some sort of electronic/orchestral experimental part. I thought, how do I get back to the soundscape, so that it'll loop and it actually fits with eachother? Well by putting a totally random different jazzy piece behind it yes xd

How did I manage this? Well, first of all, LOTS OF TIME. Second, by making a lot of different genres songs. And well third... Being in a very good mood, to make something nice.. It doesn't work to compose something when you're feeling down or stressed or whatever.

I thank you greatly sir unclesqueezins xd

....wow.

Never in my life have I listened to something more surreal and entrancing as this...

While listening, I was able to shut out the world and plunge into the dark world that is my subconscious. I could feel the pain I've endured over the years as well as the pleasures that I have been thankful enough to experience. It was the first time I could fully concentrate on thinking about myself without any influence of the outside world.

This work of art surpasses the definition of "song." I see it as a collection of meditative energy. Truly brilliant...

Thank you for sharing this piece with the community. I've been in a rather depressed mood lately and this song made me feel better. Thank you :)

(By the way, thanks for reviewing my song "Broken." I tend to return the favor whenever I receive an awesome review :D).

FatKidWitAJetPak responds:

Oh thanks man for the return review favor haha. The purpose of this song is to entrance you, help you focus, and help you breathe. It is all about meditation and relaxing your thoughts. I think it is really cool that so many can put on their headphones and zone out so easily with this to help. :)

A good effort

The melodies and sounds are pretty good (that gritty bassline reminded me of Daft Punk :D), but the mastering is really REALLY bad. For example, The drums are drowned out by all of the synths and the high pitched sounds that come in at :50 and 1:06 are wayyyyyy too loud.

If you could fix the mastering, you could have a pretty neat song here :)

mattuiop responds:

this was a bad effort on the sound mastering. if i had more time. I could of made this tune more equal in terms of volume!
thanks!

You know...

...for a 8-bit song, this was actually really good! Its nothing like what I would listen to on my iPod, but I could definitely see it in a retro 8-bit game.

I'm thinking that I might do a cover of this song sometime :)

Great job man :)

mattuiop responds:

haha thanks. you should see some of my other stuff...including the rest of newgrounds XD!
thanks for the support!

YESH...

I don't know why, but when listening to this, I got the image of African tribesmen in futuristic armor and holding lightning spears as weapons...yeah...

I really enjoyed the song. It actually captures the African feel very well. The drums are perfect and that weird animal call is awesome. Its a shame that it wasn't used :(

Keep up the good work man :)

mjattie responds:

xd I can totally imagine what you image :P xd

and thanks! I thought it was pretty african too, but well...

Ahh...

This was the very first song I ever listened to on the Newgrounds AP and it's still awesome almost 2 years later. This is one of my favorite tracks by you. You should do more stuff like this :D

mjattie responds:

xdxd I'll do that :P

thanks!

It pisses me off...

...that a lot of the musicians on Newgrounds with real talent don't get nearly as much recognition as the 13 year kids that make shitty techno music...UGHHHH...

This song is absolutely beautiful and the fact that you only spent 3 hours making it is absolutely mind-blowing. I could really feel the emotion behind it. It would take me at least a few days to create a piano piece of this status.

The title is very appropriate for this song. It really captures that "What if..." feeling that people feel from time to time. Coincidentally, this feeling kind of relates to something that is happening in my life right now and I'm motivated to finally do something that I've been wanting to do for a really REALLY long time, so I thank you for that :)

So...all mah 5 r belong 2 dis. Again, very beautiful piece. I just might have to check out the sheet music, too. I'm looking forward to some new songs from you once you get past that writer's block. I'm going through the same thing right now, so I know how you feel. It sucks... :P

Fav'd! :)

mjattie responds:

ah... Can't really worry about the 13 year old kids that make shitty techno music xd I'm not trying to get to the hall of fame or newgrounds or something, but a small group of people who like this, means a lot more to me, than getting in the top-5 and getting a lot of comments (you can't call it review anymore)... What I really enjoy is a nice review, like I get now, when I pm the people who added me to their favorite artist list.

Well, it was only 3 hours of making, but it's also a bit of a combination of the stuff I tried to make in my writers block, but failed to make into a full song.

You know, it's funny, I already knew the title, way before posting and really didn't have to think about it, so yea, I think it's appropriate :) (I always think of a title when uploading, so this is new to me)

I made a very nice sheet, so you'd better check it out! (a)

thanks a lot!

Dubstep + Classical...

...equals awesome :D

I actually mixed dubstep and classical music together a few months ago (the song is "Purgatory" if you wanna check it out), but you did a MUCH better job than I did :P

I'm really loving the super deep sub bass. The intro was beautiful as well :)

Great job man. Fav'd :D

dj-Nate responds:

You're the first person to mention the sub bass, thank you for that. I spent forever getting the sub bass and kick drum at the right frequencies to sound crisp with no muddied up sounds.

Cool!

I'll be honest. At first, I thought "I easily got the 1st round. No problem." After listening to this, I'm now thinking "Uh-oh...maybe not..."

I can tell that you really stepped it up for the NGADM. You seem to have better mixing skills than me so I think you have me beat in that category. I'm gonna have to step it up if I want to feel safe about my entry :P

A few things about the song though. I think that the kick needs a tiny bit more "umph" to it. Also, the last 2 minutes are a bit repetitive. Maybe add some trance-y chords in there or something.

Other than that, I really enjoyed the song. The beat was really catchy as well as the melodies. It also had a nice flow to it.

Best of luck to you in the 1st round! :D

DjAbbic responds:

Ooh. Now lets see what I've got here ;)

YES. I totally stepped it up for the NGADM. I worked non-stop on this for like 4 days (school hols) because I just have free time ^^.

The kick, well, a few people have commented on that, so maybe I'll layer another kick on top of it. The last 2 minutes were even more repetitive before I completely reconstructed the song (got rid of everything and started all over again with only the different patterns). It did not get a pitch change before, so yeah. You could barely imagine that eh? :P.

Thanks for the review and best of luck to you too mate :)

OH MAH GAWD YES

I thought the first "Reflections" was amazing...but this...this...*faints*

Lol. But seriously, this is one of the best dubstep songs I have ever heard, and if not that, THE BEST. I'm loving that sub bass :D

Keep on keeping on man. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if you make millions one day because of your epic musical talent. :D

mr-jazzman responds:

Haha thanks Uncle for the heartfelt review! =) I'd love to make millions one day doing this, but I have a feeling it's a far cry. I don't really care though; I'm gonna keep trying to do it! I have big dreams -- the only kind worth having! =D
