[[dj-Jo] Madness Trepidation]

Cool!

Even though this isn't the typical "madness" song, I think it would fit with a Madness Combat flash perfectly. The DnB mixes very well with the ambient synths which gives it that really creepy feeling. The use of 7/4 timing was cool, too. Very nice indeed :)

Also, it's nice to see some challenging competition in the Madness Day 2010 contest :D

This gave me goosebumps. And when that bass dropped... O_O

Great job man! Its awesome how you made the dirty bass mix with the extremely emotional feel of this song. Its almost like you made the song say "I'm a very sensitive person, but I'll kick your ass if I have to." :D

I honestly can't find anything wrong with it! Everything seems to be perfect to me. There is a nice and smooth flow, all of the sounds can be heard clearly, and it never gets repetitive :D

Pretty cool!

I really enjoyed it. Its simple but effective. I think that it can fit into the animation nicely, but I do think that it isn't heavy and dark enough for something Gears of War related.

The only thing that bothered me was the guitar. It just sounded a bit too fake to me :/ If you can find a better sample or put actual guitar in there everything would be perfect :)

My bad. My style isn't dark enough to make something like Gears of War, but at least it sounds epic, like the artist wanted it to be :3.

You're actually the first to comment about the guitar, everyone else liked it :P. It's my best guitar sample, and it's really hard to find good guitar VST's nowadays :(. Maybe if I ask someone in the forums they can record a real guitar for me, but heck, I'd rather do that on a full song ^^.

Nice attempt

I think I can see what you were going for. I think it was something similar to a house song with really strong bass and beats, but I could be horribly wrong :P Either way, I think the execution of the song was a bit poor.

The EQ'ing sounds a bit flat, if there was any. Also, I think if you increased the power of the sidechain, it would sound A LOT better. Along with that, add some different drum lines and melodies to keep the song from getting boring.

I think a really good song can come from this. Just keep working with it :)

Pretty good!

Not really my type of music, but I enjoyed some parts of it :P

The EQ'ing sounds good. Everything sounds good and clear. Maybe try changing thing up and bit with the drums and melodies in the full song. It started to get pretty repetitive about half way through.

Also, I think there needs to be more bass. Its called drum and bass for a reason :P It doesn't need much though. Maybe add a soft and faint bass just to give the melodies and drums more support.

Oh, and increase the volume on all of the synths used. I could barely hear them over the drums.

Overall, its a very well crafted song. You're on the right track with this on :)

Oh my, I somehow totally missed this review. Sorry for responding so late, my bad. ):

But thanks for the well written advice! I fully agree it needs more bass. I usually write basslines last because I find they need a ton of EQing to sit in a mix properly. To get any full sounding basses, you'll need to add them last for if you don't, you'll end up with spectrumrape. :P
